We are installing a laminate floor and are having problems getting the 2 pieces to fit together. It is a glueless tongue and grove. On the long side of 2 boards, they do not come down without forcing it. We angle it up to fit it together and the two pieces do not lay flat unless we use some force. The just remain in a V. The short end fits together fine. Has anyone had this happen? Do you need to use force? Is it possible all the boxes are defective? Thanks!!

I bought this set from Ikea in the medium brown finish..
http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?topcategoryId=15558&catalogId=10103&storeId=12&productId=60994&langId=-1&categoryId=16173&chosenPartNumber=S39839352
--After I bought the set I painted my room hot pink and now the furniture is completeley lost and doesn't stand out at all. So I'm thinking that I should either paint the furniture white so that it will definteley pop or I should just repaint my room to more of a airy brezzy spa blue. Your answers are very serious to me so please help it you can. Thanks in advance.

The oven doesn't work anymore in my gas stove. The pilot light is on...(it's an electic pilot.) The "gas" stove needs to be pluged in to work. I use to use a match to get it started but that's not working anymore. There is gas getting to it because the oven fills with the smell of it. Do you have any ideas on what I should do to fix it or do I have to spend a fortune on a new one? Thank you.

The guy who lived in my condo before me gutted and remodeled the entire kitchen and did a beautiful job, EXCEPT for the soffets (correct spelling?) above the cabinets. The plastering job is pretty uneven where the soffets meet the ceiling. I was thinking that instead of going through the expense and the hassle of sanding and/or replastering, I could put a narrow strip of corner molding where the soffet meets the ceiling. My cabinets are light natural wood so it wouldn't be hard to match up. Could this work?

My husband and I found a cute house that had been rehabbed and we really wanted to buy it. But our real estate agent pointed out a horizontal crack in the basement wall. About 3 - 4 feet of the crack was visible and it disappeared behind an adjacent wall, so we don't know how long the crack really extends. The adjacent room is a bathroom, so we would have to tear out the shower to see how far the crack extends.

The crack is not wide, (only 5-10 millimeters) and it is not uneven, (one side of the crack does not stick out farther than the other side) - it is flush.

Would you worry about this? Any advice?

I am looking for an inexpensive vacuume but one that does a good job. Anyone have any suggestions? I owned a Eureka Altima Turbo Bagless Upright SpinDuster. It is horrible I only had it for 2 months and now it doesn't work. So let me know what you have and what you recommend?

I just bought a house that has a fireplace in the living room. Running across the bottom of the fireplace is a gas burner with 3 openings (narrow slits across the top). The gas control is built into the front face of the fireplace in the brick. Is this type of fireplace meant to be used with the ceramic logs laid in the rack? Or is this just meant to be used as a starting aid for a wood fire? Every set of gas logs I've looked at contain their own burner.

This is a fully functioning fireplace, and you can see that the previous owners have burned a wood fire in it. I'm just trying to figure out the best/proper way to use this fireplace. Every place I've had before just used a standard wood fire.
