The first thing that came to mind is that you might need to check the batteries in your smoke detector: Some will squeak like that when the batteries are low.

I can't really think of anything else. Plumbing will sometimes whine, but I've never heard it make short sharp squeaks.

In addition to the smoke detector, I've heard similar sounds come from my cell phone, UPS battery backup systems, CO detector, and the Invisible Fence transmitter in my garage.

It could be your smoke detector or any other detector in the house.
We have one in our house that occasionally does that. You may just want to change the batteries and see if it stops
