I just love flowers I notice that some flowers have a fragrance to them....?

I say that flowers smell pretty, my husband say that flowers can not smell pretty, I say yes they can.Can flowers smell pretty? or they smell good, rosie, funky or what.

It's all a matter of perspective. If the scent of flowers makes you feel pretty, then yes, they smell pretty.

I think flower smells can remind you of something pretty, same as some flowers remind you of diffirent times or people you have met . I know the smell of honeysuckle always reminds me of my grandmother because she always had it in her gardens, so i may describe honeysuckle as a sweet old smell. Pine always reminds me of xmas because we always had a pine xmas tree in the house, so I would say pine trees have a festive smell.
Do you no what I mean?, I hate the smell of daffodils, maybe thats because I use to work in a garden that was full of them, and I never enjoyed that job.
Basil has a summery smell, dogs bain has a ugly smell, for me Gardenia has a pretty smell.

A lot of flowers use scent to attract pollinators to them. And most of us humans do find some of these scents to be attractive. Hubby needs to get out and smell the roses! ;-)

Now, there are a few flowers who don't have much scent, or who do at only certain times of the day. And then there are even a few flowers that have a scent that we consider ghastly.

The most fragrant I have found are Moon Flower Vine.

They bloom at night and trellis very well. I place mine by doorways, this way the scent catches my visitors, and I also can relax on my porches, with a fragrant scent to the air. Their smell is Sooooo relaxing & fresh.

If you are also into earthy scents, try planting Rosemary Bushes around windows & doors. They have a wonderful scent, as does True Lavendar, and also Salvia Gregii bushes. Salvia Gregii, Levendar, and Rosemary are also drought tollerants for Xeriscaping in drier & hotter climates.

If he says they don't smell good? Try sowing some Chocolate Mint in a bed this Springtime. Then make him some coffee or iced tea, and when you brew them you place a few leaves in with the coffee grounds or tea bags. He will LOVE that!

Find out what types of scents he like, then try to impliment those scents into your beds & garden. Guys tend to like clean scents like Carnations, Very Fragrant Roses. Some guys like the sweeter scents [what guys call feminine scents]. However, some guys like a more outdoors type of scent, and relate to flowering shrubs & bushes such as Rosemary & Salvia Gregii. Take him to a plant nursery sometime and have HIM pick out ones HE LIKES, this is the best way to find out what HE thinks smells good.

I have Lily of the Valley in my gardens and let me just say that they are extremely fragrant!! Just walking outside...yum! Or what about lilacs?
