We sometimes lose power due to storms for a few days. I'd like to get a generator to cover at least our heat and hot water.

I got the answer as to how I should treat my ceiling from kandl722 and was hoping this question could also be resolved. I wasn't quite sure if the semigloss ceiling paint should be extended to include the ceiling border or if it should be painted the same as the baseboards and trim around the window and doorway. Any ideas as to what looks the best. Thank you

The majority of my front garden is concreted over, but with a 3m x 15cm area of soil at the side. In this small area there is a young sapling growing in the corner by the house.

I'm concerned about the roots damaging the house and foundations and I want rid of the tree before it grows much more.

I've heard that most weedkillers would not be effective if just sprayed on.

I'll go to a garden centre for more info later, but I'd appreciate any advice you could give in the meantime.

I am putting a tile border up and the border is curved (ie it is "C" shaped if you look at it side on). How to I tile the corners? I have a diamond cutter tiling machine. I have both a 90 and a 270 degree corner - sorry not sure how to explain the difference but I'm sure an experienced person at tiling will understand. I don't suppose there is such a thing as a corner piece border tile?

MY wife saw this on HGTV, and wanted to try it out on our kitchen island. They say it was really easy to do, but I'm not so sure. All they say is sand the countertop and apply the grout. After 24 hrs, sand the countertop again & your done. They don't say what thickness to use, and how to keep it level across the countertop.

got new windows put in by pure cowboys trading standards are involved, the windows look pure crap the finishing details are crap ,we have been trying to get things sorted since last september and we are hitting our heads against a brick wall anyway trading standards are on our side helping us they say the next thing we have to do is get an independant person out to look at the windows and report the faults which we know are already there anyway and the cowboys know them to although other faults have now arisen since they were out,the cost of an independant person from trading standards can cost £100-£150 which is expensive, why should i have to pay that when we already know whats wrong and this only means that the cowboys have to come back and try and fix their mess again-we have already had several attempts at that ,am i within my rights that when it comes to us paying our bill we should deduct this fee from it because if the job was done right first time we wouldnt be here
