I want the room to be big enough to hold a good size king bed, an entertainment center, and a dresser, with a big walking closet for a couple. Also with a standing shower and toilet and sink...doesnt have to be a big bathroom something regular. thanks

This site has construction estimators. The cost of building an addition can depend on several factors these include,

size of house,
type/shape of house
foundation construction
area building codes
amenities
quality of amenities

Cost per square foot can run anywhere from $50 to $150 a square foot.

Suggestions about contacting a contractor is applicable.

Good Luck.

You could use an estimate of $100. per square foot to start with. Once you come up with some plans a contractor will price it for you. Get at least 3 contractors to bid and make sure they are all quoting on the same thing.
I imagine about 300 square feet will give you a nice bedroom, closet and bathroom.

it depends on where you live and what type of lot your house is build on. Most contractors will offer to come out and and give a free estimate if you have plans to do it within a year.

just gutting and remodeling 1 bathroom in my house is running me 10k. So to build a room that doesnt exist yet and put in a new bathroom I would say itll run 30-40k.

I just figured an estimate to add a 520 s.f. addition, with full bath, to the rear of an existing home in Texas. The sewage will have to go through a lift station (pump) to take it around the house, down the side, and to the sewer tap in the front yard. That was pricey but unfortunately necessary. My bid was in line with 2 other contractors and was priced in the upper 30s.

It really depends on where you live. Just call a contractor and ask him for a ball park figure. In California, it might cast you 50-60 thousand. Here in Tenn, it might cost you 20-30 thousand.
