We looked all over for a "reasonably" priced clock repair man. Most people wanted 300 buck to come to the house and fix it.
But we were patient and found someone who does the same job for 85 dollars. That was over a year and a half ago. Still works great. If you are in the LA area, email me from my profile or 360 page and I will give you the info.

Do you mean strike, not ring. very few pendulum clocks have alarms. Next question, how large is your clock? Grand Father and Grand Mother clocks may get out of adjustment, but they also gather dust and get dirty, and need cleaning. Dirt is usually the cause of a Mantel clock striking off.
You might try a can or two of compress air, sold at the electric razor shops, and blow the dust and dirt and get it to working. Some people are lucky and get by for several years by spraying them down with WD40. But it get gummy after a time.
I don`t care to work on one that has had liberal doses of WD40, but that don`t mean it sometimes will work for several years if you keep at it.
After all the above if you can carry it, there are still clock repair shops that will fix what ever is broke. I would guess the going rate from $75.00 to $135.00 on a mantle clock. There are a few hundred people in the USA still that will come to you home and work on your Grand clocks. I will not venture a guess as to their charges.
Caution any time you attempt to move a pendulum clock, remove the pendulum, and tie the little deal it goes through securely. Don`t let it be jiggling. Another thing do not attempt to turn the hands backward, always go forward.

perfect solution .. use the big black thing out side called a bin. place clock in the bin and watch as the binmen take it away and throw it in the back of the lorry. Then go to bank , withdraw cash walk to clock shop and buy new one.
