High grade aluminum is not as soft, brittle, or pliable as standard aluminum (it has additional alloys in it). As you know, aluminum is used in many construction applications. This grade of aluminum would be horrible for furniture. It would dent easily, scratch, etc.
High grade aluminum is just fine for furniture. And it's so much cheaper than using stainless steel or brushed stainless.
If you're a furniture designer and have a website, send me a link. I love contemporary furniture.

There are about 20,000 grades/types of aluminum in production today. Different alloys have different properties. Some oxidize easily, while others don't. Look at the properties rather than the grade. You might end up making something that can withstand a nuclear blast, but gets that white, chalky oxidation all over it the first time it gets humid out.
