What causes this and is there an inexpensive way to fix it. My in-laws own this duplex and they live in one side and my husband and I rent the other side from them and they are on a fixed income, and hubby and I can't help out because of a lot of medical bills. Any ideas?

I used a separate adhesive instead of soaking the border in water.

Dryer will not start. When you push the start button it will buzz like its trying to start. It is only able to buzz 4 or 5 times before it doesnt do anything when you push the start button. Then if you wait about 5 minutes, you can push the start button and it will buzz again, about 4 or 5 times.

Does your laundry person pick up the laundry, or do you drop it off? Or do they do it out of your home and put it away, too?

Living room furniture is a mushroom(light brown/cream) color and trim is brown. Any ideas of what color to paint the walls? It also has a red brick fireplace with dark wood colored mantle.

The sink seems to leak where the strainer(?) meets the drain pipe - at the nut..The plumber who looked at it says it is an older "one piece strainer included sink" , with damaged strainer and the whole sink must be replaced.Does this sound right.?The sink is about 20-25 years old.Doesn't it just need a washer replaced? Thanks.

We live in a mobile home with a metal room attached that has a metal roof, the ceiling started leaking, so my husband took down the old ceiling and put a new metal roof on the room. He left the old metal on the roof , put insulation on top and then put new metal roofing on top of the insulation. Now the inside of the room sweats {we have not put in a new ceiling yet} it drips almost constantly. expecially when it is cold and the warm sun hits the roof. We need to put up a ceiling, but we cant't because the ceiling tile will just get wet and ruin. What can we do to stop the roof {ceiling} from sweating and getting everything in the room wet? Can anyone help us with this problem?

1) Washcloth
2) Sponge
3) Bar of soap
4) Toilet seat

I chose the washcloth, but got it wrong and need to know the right answer. :-)

I have a new home and am unfamiliar with chimneys. Is there any way to stop air flow down a chimney while a fire is burning? This happens every time there is a small puff of wind outside. Even a small breeze blows air down the chimney causing burning embers to blow into the room.

I work with "stainless steel" a lot and I know it's rust resistant but it's definitly not STAIN resistant. You might be able to remove some stains easier from it than you can from some other surfaces but when it does stain, its hard as heck to clean it. It takes forever to scrub stains off my stainless steel pans so maybe it should just be called "rustless steel"?

My neighbors are obsessed with doing laundry, At least 2 loads a day, everyday, for just 2 people. I share the washer/dryer and utility bill, and I was wondering how much this is costing me.

I bought a cheap surge protector at a flea market, attached it to a wall outlet, but when I plug in a device, got a spark. then I thrown the protector away. found out the outlet and some outlets in my house don't have power, I checked the main switch box, no breaker jumped, but I still reset all of them. Didn't work. There are some breakers on the outlet in my house, I reset them all, didn't work. What is wrong? How to detect?
thanks
charlie

I had my digital radio plugged in and splashed oil over the plug- some I think went into the socket. When I pulled the plug out the forks were oily. What is the best way to clean the plug without getting water into the inside? Can I still use the socket - I'm worried it may have oil traces.

My girlfriend is allergic to most scents, so we have been using Purex Free and Clear, but in just a few months it has left almost all our clothes looking old, pilly, and dingey. I've had shirts for years that looked brand new, and now they look gross. Anyone know any scent free detergent that wont kill my colors??
