My house is very moist. We have a dehumindifier in the basement, but in the summer the house is moist and this is causing mold. What can cause this and how do we prevent it?

I'm doing this [humongous] job myself. Southeast GA, USA. Large house, 100yrs old, clapboard/pine siding [hardwood]. Hasn't been painted in decades; I will be removing eVeRy bit of old/existing paint.

I want to use Latex. I don't want to use Oil, if I don't have to. Most say that the best/most long-lasting job will result with the use of an oil-based primer, and two top coats of Latex. This is exactly what I did on the last [also old/same type of siding] house I painted. [sprayed oil primer; brushed latex top coats] And yes, it held up extraordinarily well; current owners are just now prepping to repaint - 19 yrs later. [Have I answered my own Q?]

I would just like NoT to have to MeSS with Oil paint. But it's a BiG issue, not to be certain whether Latex primer will do as good a job as oil primer. Any of you been successful with Latex primer and top coats? Or is everyone absolutely convinced that Oil primer should be used?

Bought a little Art Deco trolley from an auction without looking at it first (bad move I know). There's a lot of whitening of the varnish on the top - is there any safe, easy way of getting rid of it or does it have to be a job for a professional furniture restorer ?

The temp. is 75 degrees too hot. There are no care and feeding instruction, since this range was here when we moved in.

The fuel gauge for my oil tank, a Granby, is off by about 1/4 of a tank. Everytime the oil company comes to fill it, the gauge stops at a little over 3/4 of a tank; and, yes, I can do the math and realize that when it's near "E", there's really only 1/4 tank left of oil. BUT, I still want to adjust it.
Is this something I can do myself, and if so how, or should I just have the oil company do it?

Oh, the guage is on top of the tank. It's a glass tube with a disc attached to the top of a tiny rod inside that gradually lowers as the oil is depleted.

Ok, so i'm sure many has had roomate issues before. In this case: 4 people are moving into a 5 bedroom home. Like many homes that are built these days, the master bedroom is huge, yet the rest of the rooms allow a person to barely walk into. So the problem is that the rent is 1600 dollars per month and we dont know how to split the rent evenly so that it is fair between the person who gets the master bedroom and the other three who have to settle for the smaller rooms.

I have a really expensive Latex Mattress and last week my Hot Water Bottle leaked during the night and my bed was soaked. I realised almost as soon as it happened, and got a large towel over the area and more hot bottles on top to dry it up. Unfortunately there is now a horrid looking tide mark. Please can you help?

I have a bottle with an image printed on it and I have tried everything to remove it (nail polish remover, paint thinner, lacquer thinner, sandpaper, etc.) and nothing works. Any suggestions on some industrial strength solvent or technique I could use to get it off? Thanks!
