i recently sanded down and restained the hardwood in my hallway. circumstances prevented me from getting any polyurethane on it at the time, and now there are 'dirty spots' on it. is there a way to clean it, then seal it, or do i need to re sand (ugh). thanks

I have a double fireplace, they run next to each other in one chimney, but are completely separate. I had a new cap put on and fireplaces cleaned in the spring. We have tried a fire twice, home is filling with smoke. I do not understand the physic's, why is this happening? I used to think if I opened the flu one knotch in basement, upstairs fire would not cause smoke to come back in. This is not working now. Does one affect the other? I don't see how it can. The fire place is deep enough to not cause smoke to come into the room. Please Help!!! Thank you.

I have a Brother's Computerized EX660 sewing machine. I am making a heart pillow with the word Amour (in cursive) on the front. The problem is that I do not know how to sew it on. The pattern tells me after I transfer the lettering, pin the braid over the lettering and sew. Well I do not have a embroidery machine or the embroidery pressure foot, but I have a monogramming pressure foot. I do not want to sew this by hand. Please give me some advice on how to sew this braid on the pillow.

Some kids have written on my garage door with their fingers. The door seems to have paint that has gone powdery with time and is easy to write on with a finger. What's the best way to clean off the writing?

My balcony gets no sun at all through winter, and just 3-4 hours of morning sun in summer. I would like a couple of flowering pot plants that will be able to cope with the lack of sun in the sydney climate.
