I bought a small roll top desk at a second hand store. It is in good shape, but I want to refinish it (strip paint, sand, and repaint with an anitqued look). I have no idea on how to address the roll part of the desk. Is there anyway to take the roll off/out and get into the little crevices? Any help would be much appreciated, since I don't have any experience with refinishing furniture.

Just washed my new pillowcases - they're white on the top side, red on the back. Obviously couldnt separate the colours so the white side turned pink! Dont want to bleach because I'm worried I'll ruin the red side. Plus the white side has red flowers in the corner that I dont want to bleach out. Ahh - what did I do wrong and how can I fix it? Thanks in advance!

Ive ripped up the fake tile, and have had brand new cabinets with granite counter tops installed. I am seriously interested in oak flooring and have already put down the deposit. Do i have the hardwood flooring - engineered- placed under the dishwasher - not yet purchased or even picked out - the fridge, and the stove or do I stop the wood flush against the edges of the appliances? Does having wood under the kitchen appliances create a hazzard? My floor is currently bare cement now. Thanks for all information. I would appreciate people who either have personally installed the wood or those who have benefitted from the installation.

Just moved out to the country in Clovis, CA. It is very hot during the summer. I have almost 40,000 square feet of lawn that looks to be a mix of mostly bermuda with some fescue. It got really cold a couple weeks ago and now lawn is starting to turn brownish/green. Is it common for Bermuda to "die" and come back up ? Everyone I know tells me this is the case, but I hate the way it now looks. Any way to keep Bermuda green year round ? If not when will it start to turn green again ? Thanks so much for anyone who can help me

When fall came, both yards began growing mushrooms everywhere, hundreds of them. I assume the moisture aided them. I live in Sacramento (Nor. Cal.). Is this common? Is there a fungicide specifically for lawns? Thanks.

Each fall - winter season, ladybugs congregate by the hundreds in my office, they seem to stay in the corners of the windows, upper corners where the walls meet. They fly around or drop from the ceiling. I was told that they are attracted to white. my office is all white and made of center blocks.

I have a mouse running around inside the walls of my two-story house. I bought some DeCon pellets, but now have no idea how to get them between the walls, short of cutting out a section of drywall. Would it work to put some into the holes behind the electrical outlets? Don't know much about house construction. Can anyone help me out as to how to get the DeCon inside the walls, how much I need to use, and how many places I need to put it? I have heard the darned thing in just about every room of my house!

Every day when I come home from work, after the house being closed up, you can smell the sewer - yet it is not backing up anywhere. I understand we don't have a vent in the roof, can that be done or please post any other solutions. If you did not know different, you would think it was toxic!!!
