ok this might sound stupid to some people but this helped me with something sort of like that. Get a little cheap water gun [like the small ones from the dollar store] at spray it on there face whenever they go up , that will teach them a lesson because it worked with my cat jumping on the counter and scratching it.

I have the same problem and have had cats my whole life. Really there's not much you can do unless you keep your cats out of the room that the tree is in but that can be pretty difficult. It's just a natual cat instinct to climb trees.

Perhaps you will have to keep the cats closed in one of the bedrooms while the tree is up.....You can't sit and patrol the tree day and night. Been there done that lol.. Good luck I have even tied the tree to another object more stable.

Squiritng her with water will artwork. Everytime she is going close to it, squirt her from a distance yet do not enable her to verify the bottle. she would be in a position to start associating the tree with the mysterious flying water and learn how to lead clean. you additionally can attempt mendacity tin foil below thr tree or tape mendacity face up, cats do unlike the two one. in case you recognize anybody with a dogs, rub some embellishes or garland on the dogs. LOL purely kidding bearing directly to the dogs element. might artwork yet kinda stupid.

Sit in the room where your tree is. Hide a squirt-gun or squirt bottle beside you. Make sure your cats don't know you have it. Unplug all electricals. When the cats get in the tree, give them a good squirt and quickly hide bottle again. If they don't get it the first time, get-um again. Eventually they will learn.

I've cured my cat from doing that by spraying her with a water bottle each time she gets my potted palm. She gave me a murderous look the first time.
Now all she does is see me REACH for my spray bottle and she bolts!
Should work the same way with your tree.

From experience, there is nothing you can do. I tried spraying them with water, spraying the tree with that bitter spray from the pet store..etc... Your best bet is to tie the tree to the wall, from the top, so it doesn't tip over.
Strange what us cat lovers will do.
Good Luck!
