Put a dishwasher cleaning tablet in the washing machine and set it on a cycle. Dont use one of the dishwasher tablet's that you use to wash the plates, make sure you get one that is for actually washing the dishwasher.
This should get rid of any bad smells and leave your washing machine lovely and clean.

How did you get white spirit in your washing machine?!
White spirit is a volatile liquid and it's probably best not to mix it with other substances such as vinegar, bleach, etc. Just run the machine on a warm to cool wash a couple of times to try and dilute the spirit and rinse any residue out of your machine.
By the way, according to the World Health Organisation, any cases where spillages of white spirit have entered the drains should be reported to local authorities.

Try vinegar (white) that should remove the smell, wipe all the inside, and pour some in the powder trays, then put the machine on an empty wash with a cup of vinegar in the water, hope this helps, should do, HAPPY CHRISTMAS.

Happen´d to me once, I just put an old pair of sheet´s in the machine set it to the highest temp , using Ariel Washing Powder , and I was left no no smell at all , think you have to think about the washing machine element here if you start adding vinegar and all sorts , they don´t recommend you add these things to your wash, DO THEY ?

What is White Spirit? Is it some type of flammable cleaning fluid? If so, you need to not use your washer until it airs out completely, turning it on may cause a fire.
