1st if you still have the mfg #, call to see if there was a recall, or if they will give you a "GOOD WILL" extension & provide a free diagnoses at a certified repair store. Most a/c's should last 8-10 years trouble free, yours may have been the 1 lemon.
...
2nd if mfg dosen't come thru, go back to walmart to see if the still sell that exact unit, and then ask the store mgr if they could give you a good will exchange, & if not, then ask for a large discount to another well known brand, like GE, if that fails, then you know walmart will not get anymore of your business.
...
TRY TO BE AS NICE AS YOU CAN THE WHOLE TIME, just try your best to have them feel your were a victim of a lemon unit, everyone tries to be empathic to a wrong.

Check to see if the capacitor has gone bad.
Second, check out the compressor.
Third, see whether the AC was draining the condensation water properly.
Fourth, check on the gas, often it leaks and makes the AC incapable of cooling.

Finally... see if fixing any of this is less than what you paid for the AC. If you decide to purchase new AC, please have it serviced every year in a timely fashion to extend the life of it.

throw it out and start over. im really surprised it lasted 2 years. go to a REAL hvac dealer and order a window unit through them. they will last like you want, but remember, you have to pay for quality.
