My house is very moist. We have a dehumindifier in the basement, but in the summer the house is moist and this is causing mold. What can cause this and how do we prevent it?

Humidity, never open up basement windows if you have any! if your basement is humid then your house will end up that way too. get a dehumidifier! humidity can cause mold then you will have a bad smell. If you have a sump pump in basement cover it!

Your easiest fix for this is to install a good quality bathroom fan and have it run a lot. It is not very efficient if you have an A/C but it works great otherwise.

The good quality bathroom fan will be very quiet and actually suck out air. The poor quality ones don't even move any air, they are just noisy.

The fan will continually provide air changes in your home, properly expelling of moisture. Keep the bathroom door open so that the air is pulled from all areas of the house.

It is also a good idea to have a kitchen vent hood to ehaust to the exterior over your stove top as the greatest contributors to moisture come from the bathroom and kitchen.

Little or no insulation will usually cause a house to sweat on the inside. Insulation is a moisture barrier that keeps it out.

There's 2 ways: leaks, and ventilation problems.
