I live in a primarily well to do neighborhood. I won't find 2 teen boys to rake my yard and clean my gutters. My husband is military, he usually does this stuff but he's not here. Anywaste, today a young guy and his uncle stopped by and asked about my messy yard. I asked him how much, and he sort of asked me how much I thought was fair. My yard is about 30x90ft and it's heavily covered with leaves. They said they'd haul the leaves off for me too. The gutters are standard. I live in a single story 3br house.

So my whole question is, what's a fair price? It's close to Christmas and I can certainly understand someone looking for extra cash.

So, I heated up some hot water this morning...in a small copper bottomed pot...but...forgot to put in water. The outside bottom of the pot darkened...and a lot of the bottom flaked off. Cleaned it off...looks bright and coppery...can I still use the pot? Thanks!

We have electric heat in our condo and it stopped working in two adjacent rooms this morning. I popped the circuits and they still don't seem to want to turn on. Is there anything easy this could be that I could attempt to fix myself? If we have to call someone to fix it, should we call an electrician or a HVAC person?

I am debating between these three products since the ultrasonic models are horrible. What do you think? Jewelers use steam cleaners and these do too so I was looking into purchasing a consumer clean steamer model. Thanks.

Hello all,

I have a heat pump which I've done nothing for in the past couple of months, all of a sudden the thermostat is saying "No AC Power". I go through that manual and it says that the thermostat is getting no AC power, the shutoff at the furnace must be tripped.

I reset the main circuit breaker for the furnace, I test the switch next to the furnace to make sure that the furnace is getting power and it is so I'm thinking there is a local shutoff at the furnace which has been tripped but I can not find it.

Please review the attached photos and let me know if you see it before my family freezes! (it's Sunday or else I would just call someone)

1909 house 2 floors plus basment and the furnace burners (6) kick on almost after only shutting down for 1 minute or less and the fan never stops blowing. Outside TEMP of about 25 degrees at the time and themostat set at about 75 (new and digital) is their an adjustment or can the house possibly need that much running to keep it warm? Any guesses appreciated!

I recently moved into a condo and purchased a spacesaver washer and dryer unit for the utility closet. The major problem is that there is no outside vent for a dryer vent. I live on the second floor and there is an attic. Is it ok to vent the dryer up into the enormous attic of my condo?? I am hearing all kinds of pros and cons on this. I have purchased an indoor dryer bucket that you fill with water, but it also makes my living space warm and i can imagine what it will do in the summer....eek.

Hi,
I have an exisiting light switch for a light in my back yard. During my remodel, I had to move the light from it present location, over about 2 feet. My problem is that the existing wire is 2 feet too short. If I take it out, it is going to lead to alot of damage to my interior wall. I was wondering if I could put a juction box, and add 2 feet of wire, to get the wire to its new location. However, if I do add a box, it will be behind the wallboard, and there will be no access to it. Is this OK? or is there a better solution? I really do not want to destroy the existing wall...

Thanks for your time,
pb4sc

I have two labs that run the perimeter of the privacy fence and are causing the ground to become muddy and there are moles ripping up the ground (actually making the dogs dig after them). They are inside dogs so they are being watched when they're outside but sometimes we aren't quick enough to catch them before they make a small hole. This wasn't that big of a problem during summer and fall but we don't know how to get the grass to grow back quick enough during the SC winter. Aslo...If I never saw another mole tunnel in my yard I would be a happier person but I don't know how to get rid of them. My back yard isn't completely trashed right now but it will be in another month if I don't do something soon. This is me and my fiancee's first year as homeowners and were not sure what to do. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm open to almost anything that won't be harmful to the dogs. Thanks.
