I have two labs that run the perimeter of the privacy fence and are causing the ground to become muddy and there are moles ripping up the ground (actually making the dogs dig after them). They are inside dogs so they are being watched when they're outside but sometimes we aren't quick enough to catch them before they make a small hole. This wasn't that big of a problem during summer and fall but we don't know how to get the grass to grow back quick enough during the SC winter. Aslo...If I never saw another mole tunnel in my yard I would be a happier person but I don't know how to get rid of them. My back yard isn't completely trashed right now but it will be in another month if I don't do something soon. This is me and my fiancee's first year as homeowners and were not sure what to do. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm open to almost anything that won't be harmful to the dogs. Thanks.

for the moles find one main tunnel that connects all tunnels buy bubble yum chewing gum (only this kind) dig a whole in that tunnel put it in and replace the dirt
for the dogs put thick straw down until it grows back replace after every time it gets muddy

With big dog's it's almost impossible to do anything with a yard unless you pen them up some way.You could alway's make a dog run along fence.A fenced in run say 4-5 ' wide and length of other fence, with a rock or stone base.Or just a nice size pen.I know they like alot of room but if you don't have it you don't have it. Only way i know to help yard.Is getting rid of one of them out of the question?Would help some.Best for quick grass is to have yard sodder.Hope this gave you some idea's,good luck.

Plant some grass seed, this is a good time of year to do. You may want to throw some straw over the seed. It will keep the dogs from tearing up the seed too much.

well take them on walks for a change while you plant new grass seeds or take them outside your self so you can catch them red handed. i don't know about the moles but try animal control!
your welcome!
