I want to replace a huge chandelier with a ceiling fan. I have a narrow beam that is holding up the chandelier, do I need a bigger support beam to hold the fan up? The fan weighs a couple more pounds than the chandelier. I have 116 year old plaster ceilings that i don't want to damage, any suggestions?

I am tearing out the wires out of old appliances. I have heard that T.V. s, microwaves, and computer monitors can really bite you even when unplugged some cases several years. What can I do to avoid this and still get the wire? Should a novice just not take the risk. Also I have an old car battery charger any risk with this?

I bought two plastic serving trays and they came in sealed plastic covering. When I got them home and opened them, the manufacturing plastic smell was overpowering, and that was three weeks ago.

I've tried everything; soaking in detergent, leaving them in the rain and then the sunshine, soaking in a vinegar/water solution, through the dishwasher on hot and they still smell.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how I can remove the smell? They were bought to go under cat bowls and the cats won't go anywhere near them.

About 30 minutes ago, my sister spilled some juice on my blanket. It's not Orange Juice, but it IS juice that is orange. Do I wash it in cold water? Warm water? Do I need to put anything on it so that it won't stain? Please help! I tried calling my mom, but she's not answering. I need some specififc answers, if you would please!

My dad put a load of washing on and filled the drawer with soap powder, not realising that the machine was only set to spin. I adjusted the setting for him, but now the water is flooding out of the soap dispenser drawer and down the front of the machine. I have taken the drawer out and cleaned it but this hasn't made any difference.
Is the hose blocked with the washing powder? or does any 1 know what else could be wrong with it?/how to fix it?

I need to buy a new natural gas furnace I currently have a 20 year old 150,000 btu/hr natural gas furnace rated 80% efficient. I was thinking of either a 90% or 93% rated one. Duct work is all in good shape.I was wondering what to expect cost wise, for a high quality/name brand furnace with installation? Any knowledgeable guestaments/ballpark amounts would be welcomed !!

My garage had some serious areas where tape was coming undone and the texture was falling because of it...was going to scrape around those areas, retape, and retexture but got frustrated because then I knew I would have to paint it all and the old stuff would just come off when it got painted...so now I am scraping all the old popcorn off....suggestions on where to go from here? Thanks!
