I like to wear secondhand and thrift-store clothes and have a few ancient white cotton T-shirts (from the '70s and '80s) that I'm not willing to part with that have noticeable yellow sweat stains on the armpits. I've noticed this old, really soft T-shirt material seems much more susceptible to pit stains than today's seemingly stiffer cotton/cotton blend T-shirts. Anyway, what can I do to whiten these back up (bleach doesn't work at all)? Or are they doomed to be set aside as nightie and house-cleaning shirts?

since they're building the house in anywhere between 5-7 days, is it possible that the house is built with quality? i don't know anything about home maintenance/repair so just curious if a house that is built in a week is not going to fall apart in a few years and cost the homeowner $$$ to maintain the home.

My dryer is about 6 months old. I've had this problem ever since I bought it and let it go till the warranty was up (stupid). Anyway, it gets hot but it takes the clothes FOREVER to dry. A load will take about 2-3 hours to get dry. Is there a temp settin I need to fix or what could be wrong? It's very annoying. I haven't noticed any signifigant change in my electric bill. The brand is Performa by Maytag.

I was given a bottle of dishwasher detergent. And it's terrible! My dishes look terrible. It's a big bottle and still full so I don't want to waste it. But if my dishes don't get clean it's no good to me anyway. Can I add vinegar to the bottom of the dishwasher when I start it? Will that help? Is there anything else I can do?

A dear friend who loves to cook has bought a beautiful old english manor house on acres. I have found a beautiful antique cookbook and would love to write something memorable inside along the lines of the kitchen being the heart of the home and cooking with love etc. etc. I have gone blank. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The machine is frozen up, the wheel will not turn, the bobbin case is stuck but the screw that is suposed to remove the gib won't turn. For now, I've given the entire machine a good oiling which hasn't been done for years but if I try to turn that screw any more, I'm going to strip it. I removed the hook that it catches on so that I can hand turn the wheel and get the screw in a better position but that didn't help. There is another screw at the base of the entire bobbin case and I wonder if I can't remove that screw and remove the whole bobbin case - not just the gib as the instructions call for but I'm afraid I may get in too deep and not be able to get it back together.

We are remodeling an old house and have scraped the wallpaper down to the wallboard. The wallpaper had been painted over. Now do we sand before putting the primer on or do we paint (basecoat) and then sand? The wallboard isn't smooth.
