On Thanksgiving we were cooking some cabbage in a 3 gallon kettle. We kinda forgot about it and it burned. Of course we threw away the cabbage, but the kettle is kinda expensive. Does anybody know how it can be salvaged? Or is it through?

Try filling it with soapy water and putting it on the stove, let it boil a few minutes then scrub. If it's not a nonstick surface you can try spraying oven cleaner on it, letting that sit for a while then scrubbing it out. Make sure you clean it very very well if you use the oven cleaner and only do that if it's NOT nonstick.

Kettle burn?
Luckily it seems to be a kettle, where you can reach in.

I had great success by soaking the burnt bottom of pots and pans with baking soda and hot water, letting it sit over night, then scrubbing it. If all does not come off, I just repeat the rocedure until it does. Has saved saved pots and pans many times.

Wish you susscess.

This sounds really strange, but fill the kettle with hot (boiling) water, and toss in some dryer sheets. It will lift burnt crap off like nothing. Let the sheets soak in the water until the water is COLD, and then dump it out. Fill with hot soapy water and scrub lightly. It should come right out.

You said you soaked it.. but you did not say if for five minutes or what.. I have never had any problems with mine when they got burned stuff on the bottom(inside bottom). I put water into the pot... and some dish washing liquid.. and some ajax or something like that.. and let it sit over night.. next day it comes right off

Try using Palmolive Super Scrub Gel paste. It's for pots and pans. Follow the directions, I ahve had huge success with that. I think Easy off might even make a pot scrubber.

If boiling it with water for a little while doesn't work, put ammonia in it and put it in a garbage bag, let it sit over night and then it should wash out. Good luck
