I have a suite on the sixth floor of a condominium. Whenever I close the door to the bedroom, a very strange horrible smell builds up. This is especially noticeable in the mornings. I am not sure how to indentify this gas, to see what it is, and where it is coming from. We have had this for many years now. We have emptied the room entirely, and it still fills with this gas smell. We have closed the vents for central airconditioning, and there is still the smell. Whoever sleeps in the room, the skin below their eyes seems to sink in the morning. Note even if the room is left absolutley empty with noone or nothing inside, there is still the smell. I have notified the building management, and they are not doing anything about it. I have even tried to sue to for lack of action, at no vail, with many costs. I am wondering if anyone knows how I can identify this gas, and how I can get rid of it. Help!

I have a large section of my yard that gets very little sun light but is very visable from the driveway and house. It has a lot of shade from trees and my pole barn so I can't grow grass. I would like to grow some aggressive ground cover that would look better than the bark that is there now. Any suggestions.

My dad's house was built in 1977 and it is a split entry brick house. It seems like a pretty stirdy house but there is no bridging between the floor joists. The joists are a little longer than that of other homes I have seen. Why is there no bridging here? Did the builder take a short cut or is there no need for it. Thanks.

I have 3 that are pestering me terribly. Is there some sort of poison to put out for them? They're into everything. Also, I know that putting moth balls under my house will keep skunks out, will they work for the raccoons as well? Please help me.....

My basement has an old wood center beam with 2 sections of the floor. The one half of the basement floor joists appear very old and dark, and dirty and the joists contain bridging.

On the other hand, the other side, the floor joists appear cleaner and lighter in color. They look newer and there is no bridging between the joists.

Were these floor joists and floor boards likely replaced by the previous owener or is this likely original and just aged differently. Also, is the bridging added after the house is older, or before it is built?

btw, this house is approx 86 years old.

Hi Folks,

Could someone give me some pointers?

I have a 2 year old Vokera combi boiler and recently got a leak upstairs fixed.

I now notice that my hot water pressure is particularly poor both upstairs and down (the boiler is downstairs next to the tap). Also when I run the hot water tap the boiler makes a noise that I didn't really notice before.. any ideas?

- I'm sure the pressure problems started upstairs (in the bathroom) and have got worse / moved downstairs, although I could be wrong!

many thanks.
