It says on the label not to mix with bleach, but why not?

OOPS, I never read the label. I have mixed it before. But if it says not to, don't do it.

Never mix ammonia and bleach though. I nearly killed myself doing that one time.

Besides the other answers given here, there is the factor that getting bleach on your hands isn't good.

Joy makes a dishwashing liquid with some kind of bleach in it, and Dawn and a number of others make antibacterial dishwashing liquid, so there should be no need to make any concoctions of your own.

If the label says do not mix is because of the chemicals involved may cause a reaction

because it can cause VERY toxic vapors. many dish soaps contain small ammounts of amonia, which, when mixed with bleach, creates a nerve gas that WILL KILL YOU!!

because it can kill you! a good example is bleach and amonia... it's called mustard gas which killed millions in ww1.

Chemical reaction...do it and smell...you'll know after your sense of sight, smell and taste return...one day.

maybe the chemical reaction is fatal if inhaled
