Have oil burner heating my home and for hot water (hot water coil inside burner). Lately some days we have plenty of hot water as usual then some days we run low or have a little hot water. It doesn't matter whether it is late at night or early in the morning or whether we used the dish washer or clothes washer that day. Never had a problem with hot water before.

Plumbing - problem with toilet?

We have a two year old house and our guest bathroom toilet has a foul smell coming from it.We clean the toilet on a regular basis and a few days later the foul smell is back.We are hooked up to county water and sewer and do not have this problem with our other bathroom.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any advice on how to keep mice out of your house?

My house is clean...very clean...but also very old. I have filled all little cracks/holes in the foundation, put up sticky traps (the good ones) and professional poision, but they come back every winter. Any suggestions??? PS- no cats because 1. my husband HATES them 2. I hate kitty litter and 3. my dogs hate cats even more than my husband.

Does anyone know where I can find reports on the ills of using lake water for irrigating lawns?

I live in an area that wants to allow private homeowners to use their lake water for anything they want, like watering the lawns. I have heard that this is a bad practice as it upsets the natural water level, especially during droughts.

We have a meeting tomorrow and I'd like to have documentation to support my claim. Thanks for any help...

how do i get suction cups to stay put?

i live in a student hostel and we are not allowed to do any modifications (no nails, paints not even posters).... i needed extra hooks in the bathroom so i got the ones attached to suction cups but they keep falling. why do they kep fallin off and i how do i get them to stay?

I've got a Panasonic MC-E468 upright vaccum cleaner?

the belt that drives the beater bar keeps falling off its pin. I have to keep unscrewing the whole bottom of the chassis and putting the belt back on the pin. I think there should have been a flange on the end of the pin to hold the belt on, but we bought the vaccum brand new, and there isn't one. The drive belt itself isn't warped and seems to run properly, but then it just slips off for no apparent reason. Has anyone else had this problem? The vacuum isn't (of course!) under warranty any more, it's about three years old.

Stinky shoes?

i have this pair of boots that i absolutely lovveee...but i wore them for so long last weekend and it was raining outside, so i guess the moisture made them really really smelly. are there any methods with making smelly shoes UNsmelly?? i've tried the spray and the powder and even the pads but nothing seems to be working...i need ideas for smellyness prevention too. thanks everyone!!

Bath Towel Odors! Even after i was them w/ amonia, they start smell musty a day or two after we use them!?

Even when i wash them with hot water (knowing that could fade them) and i use Downy's liquid fabric softner and Arm & hammer softner sheets in the dryer. The towels smell GOOOODD fresh out the dryer and into the cabinet, but after a shower or two, they start to stink up the whole bathroom. I hate it, and being pregnant I'm very sensative to smells and pick up on them easy! I also live in a apartment so i can't afford to do laundry weekly. What can i do to keep them bath towels from being so musty so fast?

Where can I buy the stick/tack paper that you place in the bottom of drawers, say in the kitchen?

I guess its called tack paper, I want to fit it into my kitchen drawers. It comes in different styles/colors, sticky on on side. Can you suggest the stores that you know it can be found at, and in what section? Much appreciated-Thanks

I spilled red wine on a black and white dress the other night....?

and I am a little hesitant about doing anything! The dress is brand new and has only been worn once. I have not washed it, pretreated it, or anything of the sort. Is there a way to handle the situation to where I can get it out without my dress being stained???
