I agree with the above or, you can have the roof fixed on your own and withhold the amount from your present and future rent if necessary. At least the second way you know the roof will be fixed promptly.

What were you expecting? You don't pay rent you get evicted. If you think you deserve to withhold rent you have to obtain a court order first and set up an escrow account. The courts oversee the rent, you pay it to them and the landlord gets it after he does the repairs. Only a judge can determine if he has to do the repairs or not. Pay your rent, stop the eviction, then go about it the right way. you can not take the law into your hands and try to enforce it yourself.

He is right repair it and along with the rest of the money give the landlord a copy of the receipt not the the original one as he may try to take you to court to retrieve the rest of the rent this way you still have the original receipt for court,and also you might get better answers if you put this question in the right category

I think if you have told the landlord that the roof leaks and they have had a reasonable amount of time to fix it, you may withhold the rent until it gets fixed, but you still owe it, don't spend it.
