The previous three had some great ideas: barn wood, quilt, rough-sawn lumber would certainly give the cabin feel. The quilt could be hung on the wall; and/or you could make a quilt rack to hold it.
Find some old rusty roofing tin; could be used to cover the ceiling [if you haven't seen it, it might be hard to visualize, but] - it looks fantastic. You could also use the tin to cover an entire wall, maybe just one; or as a wainscote, topped with a wood chairrail out of rough sawn/old lumber.
Make a groovy birdhouse out of old wood [cedar is good] and use some of the rusty tin for the roof.
Check out the Better Homes & Garden [bhg.com] site and search both Articles and Slide Shows for "rustic" ideas/themes.
Make a coat rack: could be a simple, straight piece of old/rough-sawn wood [shabby paint or not] with hooks; or you could make it to double as a shelf by putting another piece atop [at 90 degrees].
Buy an old, solid wood door and strip the paint off it. Buy an old solid wood door with the old chipping paint still on it, and leave it like that. Use it as a door, or maybe as a desk; or find a small old door and make it into a coffee table.
Make closet doors, the barn way: take 1" x 4" or 1" x 6" boards aligned next to each other, whatever dimension you need [heighth & width]; secure them together by a cross-piece on back - one about 6" from top, one about 6" from bottom and maybe one running diagonally between the top & bottom cross pieces.

Find an old window with panes and replace the glass with mirrors for a great wall piece!
Use driftwood to attach to a plain lamp base and glue to front... Instant ambiance!
Make a wreath out of pine cones and buy an inexpensive round mirror to attach to the back. Hang over a dresser.....
Use quilts as window treatments. You can find them at resale shops or thrift stores. Make great looking valances! Also a quilt on the bed is very cabin comfy! Quilts also can be used to make a one-of-a-kind headboard and throw pillows for a bed and/or chair...
Find an old rocking chair from a resale or thrift store. Or an old adirondack, wood chair.
Change the drawer pulls on the dressers so that they do not match. You can find them at a salvage yard, look in the yellow pages.
A rag rug on the floor is a great way to add color and a country cabin feeling to a room.

Some rough sawn boards from a local sawmill would work. Shrinkage will be a problem if not dried thoroughly. We put up black tar paper, then hammered up the boards, which were local pine. The shrinkage was disguised by dark shadow line. If I were to do it again I would put up boards to dry first, as shrinkage will vary depending on the cut of the wood. battens of thin wood might work also.Finish optional. Spray a dull poly if you want to color it or protect the wood. Why bother. Dirt cheap.
