I have a large section of my yard that gets very little sun light but is very visable from the driveway and house. It has a lot of shade from trees and my pole barn so I can't grow grass. I would like to grow some aggressive ground cover that would look better than the bark that is there now. Any suggestions.

It depends on where you are really, both on how they will survive and how they will take off.

Look at kudzu in the south east, English ivey is it's counterpart in the PNW. EI is destroying entire stands of huge trees.

Some Vincas are concidered invasive in areas.

I would recomend getting a good mix of native, or near native plants that are not all that agressive and plant them in wide dispersion. Maybe start with some plugs and brodcast seeds in with them, here in SE WI I would recomend may apple, false Solomon seal, wild geranium, jack in the pulpit...

Any really aggressive ground cover might just take over and then you will need something to keep it at bay.
If you don't like the bark try cocoa mulch or even pretty colored gravel.
You could also consider thinning out the tree branches so more sun could get to the ground and regular grass could grow there.

There are English Ivy's and Ground Cover Jasmines. That are fast growers. You will need to edge the borders occasionally to keep them in control.

Probably plant one every three or four feet all directions around the shady area.

Have fun.

You might go to your local florist or Lowes, when in season you can put a vinca plant in and it will spread like wildfire, give you good ground cover and a touch of color.

The English Ivy loves low sun and is very hardy and spreads very fast.
