I need to put new wall tiles in my bathroom, the old tiles are solid so its a shame to disturb, what should I do to the old tiles so that the new tiles will bond to them ?

not a good idea at all. you should remove the existing tile off of the walls before laying down new tile. it is kindof a pain but you really should do that first. otherwise it may not stick well and you'd hate to have your new tile fall off.

Its purely right to have backerboard down first. even with the undeniable fact that it sounds like this can upload extra cloth than you want (transferring the entire tile faraway from the wall) are you able to eliminate the wallboard and replace with a thinner piece then the hardy board? If this all sounds like too a lot artwork primer it, poke or drill large holes(0.5 in. or so) all around the outdoors (mabey evary 4in.) and as you position on the skim coat, fill holes and let it come out the lower back, then skim tiles and comb wall.
