The stove has no flue and I am trying to install one. The pipe has a few bends in it before it goes out of the house. Where on the pipe (how far up) should I install the flue?

Are you refering to a damper? The stove pipe goes INTO a flue to exit the house. Be sure the flue is properly installed, since improper flue can set the house on fire.

If you are asking about the damper (a valve installed in the stove pipe) it should be from two to four feet from the outlet from the stove. Be sure the pipe always goes up, as downward slopes will collect soot rapidly, causing a fire hazard. Soot is combustible, and can be explosive.

It really doesnt'matter where you put the flue. Its function is to prevent alside cold air from being drafted into the house.
Put it somewhere convenient and make sure that it is open when the stove is lit.
