since they're building the house in anywhere between 5-7 days, is it possible that the house is built with quality? i don't know anything about home maintenance/repair so just curious if a house that is built in a week is not going to fall apart in a few years and cost the homeowner $$$ to maintain the home.

I volunteered with the show twice, in 2007 and 2009, and in each case the house itself is in fact done in not 7 days, but usually between 4 and 5 days.

Yes. As long as the foundation is solid, a house can be built in short order, with quality, if you have teams of professional tradesmen at work round the clock.
Usually, a reputable company is contracted to build a house that is THEIR own specialty. This helps alot in saving time.

I would think since the whole town is helping on the project than it would not take that long plus it is t.v. i`m sure they have people working day and night to get it finished and the work could be done if the right people are on the job

I don't see how you could build a quality house in that many days. It takes time to do things correctly. Things have to setup, dry, settle, whatever before you can do other things to them... I don't have any experience building a house but I wouldn't want to pay for one to go up in a week -I'd take it for free but I wouldn't pay for it. If you could do it correctly that fast why does it take 6 months or more in the "real world?"

The way they do it so fast is to use a huge crew with a lot of experience to do the core work and to direct the volunteers.

Is it quality? Well think about it! Would YOU do lousy work with the whole world watching? I don't think so. I know that I would do my best. And I would think that they would too.
