It is called a " GARBURATOR ", a garbage disposal is also called garbage compactor , or trash compactor , is a box that opens on the front of the lower cabinet and and it compresses it , to turn it into a nice little package , the garburator , grinds all food left overs into a slurry that will mix with the drain water , bones are not recommended to dispose this way ,as pieces may become clogged between the blades and is dangerous to remove them by hand .

It's called a garbage disposal but if you want to use it to mash bones be prepared to pay a lot for it. The instructions on those I've bought say not to use it for bones.
