1909 house 2 floors plus basment and the furnace burners (6) kick on almost after only shutting down for 1 minute or less and the fan never stops blowing. Outside TEMP of about 25 degrees at the time and themostat set at about 75 (new and digital) is their an adjustment or can the house possibly need that much running to keep it warm? Any guesses appreciated!

Better have a tech check it out. Can't diagnose here.

Does your house need more insulation? and there should be an adjustment in the thermostat that controls how much the temp can vary before kicking on again.

Easy things to check: Are you losing air out of windows/doors? There are lots of easy weather-stripping products you can buy for really cheap. Other than that, you'll probably need to call a pro. There isn't much "do it yourself" when it comes to heating.

omg...hehehe a 1901 home,.....set at 75 degrees...and your wondering why it wont stop running? lololol....sorry i am really laughing... listen....an older home needs LOTS of insulation and usually has Many drafts from windows and doors and just well....cracks...all over...thats bad enough but to set your tstat to 75 degrees is unheard of.......I set mine at 65 myself..and 58 at night....at the rate your running it your fuel costs will be triple or quadruple what mine are

You have a loss of heat between the cycle, which indicates that your unit is inefficient, or a loss of heat through the windows and walls. they have people in your utilities company, that will come and find the leaks, and make recommendations.
