Kill the mold with something that won't remove the color. Then Vacuum pack them.

Personal I would take a picture of them and throw away the roses. I'm sure your friend would understand. It is the thought that counts.

My solution for both of my recent rose memories, was to hang them upside down to dry partially and then remove the petals to a flat, cool, dry spot and agitate them periodically until they dry completely. The color remains quite well and mold is not an issue. And then I store them in a small open potpourri jar with a few drops of rose oil on a cotton ball. And a little silica packet like you find in shoe boxes, or medicine bottles.
The yellow roses from Feb'06 kept a beautiful golden dusty yellow. And the lavender roses from 2003 have not faded after three years.

I would take them out of whatever type of bag you have right now so that they dry out completely. Then the only option I would say is to purchase a small shadow box with a glass front, like a thick picture frame. That way, you can display them, they will be concealed in the shadow box (you can get them at craft stores like Michaels), and you won't smell the musty smell. They will be discolored still, but atleast the box will preserve them as they are for you without them getting dusty, etc.,

I don' think there is a way to stop the mold now. For future reference, my father-in-law passed away 2 years ago, I got 2 of the roses, tied a ribbon at the end and hung them up side down until they tried, and then I bought a shadow box, and put them in it with hot glue, with pictures and gave it to my husband, he wept.
