sq feet.
Take all the bedrooms the four are living in and bathrooms in those bedrooms add up the Sq. feet. Dived that into $1,600. that gives you price per sq ft. now each bedroom pays by the sq ft. the rest of the house is every ones anyway.
If the master bedroom is the only one that has a bathroom That person will pay the bulk of the rent.
Or no one gets the master bedroom and you can all used it to store thing in. still it is sq.ft. payup.
Bedroom 11’12’ = 132sq.ft.
Bedroom 10.5’x12.5’ = 131.25sq.ft.
Bedroom [16’x14’ = 224sq.ft.] + Bathroom [9’x10’=90sq.ft] =314total sq.ft.
Bedroom 11.5’x12 = 138
138+314+131.25+132’= 597.5sq.ft.
$1600 rent / 597.5sq.ft. = $2.68 pr sq.ft.

As with any area you rent, square footage determines the price. I would find out "who" is interested in the master suite out of the tenants "at an extra cost", and then just pick a name out of a hat or flip a coin. If it's 1600.00 per month, between 5, that's 320 bucks a month. I would say that the master suite should rent for 400, then the others would have a less expensive rent, BUT, all utilities should be split equally.

I would suggest that everyone take the smaller bedrooms and turn the large room into an extra TV /game room, giving everyone a place to go if they want to watch different programming, etc. The room could also double as a guest room and extra storage. Of course the cost would be absorbed by everyone and no one will feel they got the short end of the stick. Everyone pitches in to keep it tidy and you've doubled your common living areas.

You can have everyone pay 400 each, but have the person with the master bedroom pay a higher percentage of all the utilities to make up for it. Or you can have 3 of you pay 375 and the one with the master pay 475

I was in the same position. We measured the total square footage of each room and divided the square footage by the rent. We also took into consideration the bathroom setups. The master bedroom usually has seperate bathroom. So, This is another factor to consider. If you are a female, the bathroom is a gold mine if it is in one room and not shared!

in my opinion ive found that the person whos name the apartment is under should get the master beadroom however they should pay the larger amount of the rent. I live with two roommates and we are doing that now. Its worked out great! However if someone in your house leaves I think you should split the rent again using the same senario

Unless somebody has taken charge of all of the lease and utilities, you should all pay equally and each share the smaller bedrooms. You can use the larger room for storage, or as a room for when somebody has a special guest over.

Either everyone pays the rent evenly.
Or the person(s) pay a little more for the master room.
Or just make the master room a rec room..

375 = 3 people
475 = master
however if its a 5 bedroom house, and no one wants to pay the extra .. they could all move into the smaller bedrooms and pay 400 equally.
