Living room furniture is a mushroom(light brown/cream) color and trim is brown. Any ideas of what color to paint the walls? It also has a red brick fireplace with dark wood colored mantle.

Something in the orange family might look awesome. Behr.com has a great color selection tool (from the home page, click on Explore Color). Check out some of these colors:

Ceramic Glaze
Marmalade
Desert Sunrise
Coral Gold

Or, another approach is to find a color with this tool that closely resembles the brick in your fireplace, and then ask the tool to return coordinating colors.

Good luck!!

The great thing about neutrals, they accent with any color. Any color you pick would look awesome. What look do you want, cozy - go dark, light and airy - go light.

As far as a color choice against the red brick fireplace, don't use red. You want the luxury of owning a fireplace to pop at you and not to blend in with the room. The fireplace is a natural focal point. Make it known.

Because your fireplace is red brick and the compliment to red is green, I would have to go with something in the green family. Maybe a greenish blue, such as a very deep teal. Or you could go rich and luxurious with an eggplant color

I would go with a sage green or a golden tone. Or, you could get really bold and pick up a red in the fireplace brick.........

good luck.

I would recommend a brown suede paint. You can get it from any paint store, my favorite brand is Ralph Lauren. Suede has two process,
1. paint the wall with roller
2. paint the wall with brush with hand motion
This technique is easy but result is spectacular. Enjoy
