I recently had a similar problem after putting a large number of potato peels into the garbage disposal. I was unable to get a pipe "snake" past the disposal, so I called a plumber. When he came, he had to disassemble the pipes downstream from the disposal to clear the blockage.

Get a bucket, put it under the elbow open the pipe up and remove the clog.
