I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and it gets pretty cold down here and i was wondering if its ok to leave my heater on all night. I'm afraid it will use too much energy.

i really like the looks of it (i have glossy black 8x8 tiles) but am wondering how practical and durable it will be in the long run. has anyone had good/bad experiences with this type of counter? also what is the best space between tiles--i've got conflicting info about this--one guy said 1/16 inch and another said 1/8 inch. and also, what color grout would be best to use with black tile--i dont reallly wanna have white grout.

We recently had trees thinned on our 5 acres. Mostly pine, and some cottonwood. Many had been invaded by the Pine bark beetle and some just died, presumably because of drought and overgrowth. The person who did the work assured us it would look 'like a park' when he got done. I can't fault most of his work; however, these stumps raised all over looks terrible. And, I worry about the still present root system.

I've seen property that is parklike, and it seems obvious the stumps were taken care of after the trees came down. Do any of you foresters out there have a suggestion that won't cost a fortune?

I'm not a superstitious person, but I have to admit, it bothered us that a bat was flying around in our house. We had to call animal control, to come and remove it, it happened about 4 hours ago and we're still disgusted over it. Has a bat ever gotten into any of your houses?

If too low, the system runs for hours to heat back to 68, which probably is less efficient. Anyone have an idea what the optimum point is? This is for a hot air system and outside temp is about 25-35 degrees.

I sat on the chewed up gum in a chair at the friends house. I did not notice it until I got home. Now it is really worked into the fabric. What will desolve the gum residue so that the jeans can be washed?
