You are not supposed to burn any treated wood or wood with any finish (varnish, shellac, polyurethane) in a fireplace because it will produce toxic fumes. However, you can burn it in a woodburner that has a solid door. I do. You just have to watch it closely because it will burn fast and hot. It is best to mix it with logs.

Oh my!!! You cannot do that its very valuable and if you had a garage sale or put it in the newspaper I bet someone would buy it. By the way I cannot believe you would think so horribly of her collections.

Burn it in small pieces at different times if you are unsure. You do have permission of your wife, right? If you don't [have permission], you may be in trouble. Watch your back and remember she's you wife. Good Luck.
