I'm not a superstitious person, but I have to admit, it bothered us that a bat was flying around in our house. We had to call animal control, to come and remove it, it happened about 4 hours ago and we're still disgusted over it. Has a bat ever gotten into any of your houses?

Never had a bat but had birds/squirrels come down. Get a chimney cap put on your fireplace. It is a wire mesh thing that keeps critters from getting in your chimney. It fits over the top of your chimney and nails into place. Ask any brick company or hardware store in your town.

No Bats but plenty of birds. Every year there is at least two that manage to come down the chimney and cannot get back out. Luckily, it's during the summer and we have the fireplace doors closed, so they don't actually come into the house. But they are stuck in there until my husband comes home and gets them out. One winter, I was starting a fire, closed the doors. Then all of a sudden, I happened to catch these little tiny eyes looking in. The poor little thing was staying really low near the doors, trying to get some air. He was lucky I saw him. I let the fire go down. He was saved. My husband came and got him out. We have to do something to cover the chimney opening.

No bats, but we have birds that come into our house from the chimney. The sad thing is that during the winter we keep the fire going, and you can hear those poor darlings get burned to a crisp. We can't put a grate or bars on the floo top since it created a fire hazard the last time we tried.

Yes , I found one under the eaves hanging upside down under a piece of tar paper on my house. He was very cute and furry with sharp little fangs. I think they are very beneficial to have around
