I had my digital radio plugged in and splashed oil over the plug- some I think went into the socket. When I pulled the plug out the forks were oily. What is the best way to clean the plug without getting water into the inside? Can I still use the socket - I'm worried it may have oil traces.

You need to change the outlet. There is no way to safely clean the inside. Some oils have contaminants that conduct electricity, so you can't guarantee that it's not a hazard.

Try to wipe down the plug to get it as dry as possible. Use several rags to do this. After you remove all traces of oil, try plugging the plug back in then pull it out. If there is oil on the plug when you take the plug out, then there is oil in the socket. If there is a lot of oil in the socket, you may have to replace it. If the oil is petroleum based, it is flammable and could ignite if the plug and socket got hot enough. Hope this helps.

Fortunately, oil is a poor conductor of electricity, otherwise you'd be in bigger trouble.

Clean the plug with soap & water, and let it dry thoroughly before using it again.

The outlet should be replaced. If you're up to the task, great. Don't forget to shut off the power first. If you're not, then get someone who is. If there was a lot of oil, they may have to clean the wires before connecting the new fixture.

ok there is no problem here the oil will evaporate in time....
DO NOT PUT WATTER ON IT...
This will cause a short and then you will be able to see your friends and family from your grave........ NO WATTER!!!!

with a dry rag clean up all the rest of the oil and try not to use that socket for some time.....

If your are still not happy you can have the socket replaced (but by an electrican) and dont blame the dog he has no idea what a socket is......
