I am running new wire for an electric oven 120/240. The oven is old and the old receptical has a red a black and a white, but no ground. I want to do it up to code, should i get a new cord with 4 prongs and a new receptical to match, or should i use the old cord and try to find a receptical with 3 prongs and not run a ground wire?

I have a 1983 Boiler in my house. I tried bleeding the air from the system a few days ago. I did so till water came out and now i think it makes more water dripping noise in the pipes than before? I want to bleed more from the pipes but i'm not sure if i should add more water and if that will increase or decrees the water pressure to much. Right now the water pressure is at 23 psi and when it's on it's about 30 psi

I'm aware there should be a 10-15mm expansion gap all around the edging of the flooring. A builder told me I should also put clear silicon all around, is this correct or best left as it is? Will the floor in time move about without it?

Why are the knobs on gas stoves always on the front? I'd like to find an affordable gas stove with knobs on the back panel so my kids can't reach them.

My two roommates (I live with a couple) are filthy pigs. Most of my friends think I am exagerrating when I tell them that my roommates do not ever clean. The filfth growing in their bathroom is disgusting, they never clean their sheets, clothes and dsicarded food and drink containers are all over the place. I have lived with them for 4 years now and recently they have hit an all time low. I have my own bedroom and bathroom which is fairly spotless (I do not want to live with anally clean people, just not disgusting slobs), and compared to my stuff, they live in a landfill. I am so embarassed to have people over for it is starting to spill out into the common areas of our apartment. What is a tacful way of telling them to clean up their crap without a fight starting?

I live in an 80 year old house that has a fireplace in the living room. It was put in to be purely decorative (YEARS ago, before I owned the house) and I am thinking of putting a gas log in it. How safe is this to do? The floor below it is tile over a wood base floor. The fireplace itself is all brick except for the mantle, which is wooden. The back of the fireplace is one layer of brick thick that lies right up against the wall of my house (which is plaster/wood construction). I just want to make sure this is a safe thing to do...

They were used in the 50' and 60's for Domestic Science classes. The had a handle on them and were made from wicker or similar material and sometimes they had a cotton cover over them to keep your food that you had cooked in class warm.

My husband thinks it is cheaper to heat the house by turning the heater off during the day, and I say it is cheaper to turn the heater down to 60 and allowing the house to maintain one tempature, rather than bringing it up from a much lower tempature and have the heater run longer. Who is right?

My roommates and I bought a used washer/dryer combo for use in our rented home. However, the cord doesn't match the outlet. Here is a comparison pic I made: http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/1526/cordcomparisoncg5.jpg

Would it be easier (and safe) for me to change out the power cord? If so, could I just buy a new one from a hardware store? Or would it be better for me to get an electrician to change the outlet for me? Thanks.

I'm doing the dishes right now. I turned it on and heard something like metal in it and saw that a fork's end is sticking out of the sink. Can I just take it out or will it electrify me? The button is not turned on or anything, I switched it off when I heard the sound. I'm from South Africa and we don't have these, that's why I want to be sure. Thanks in advance.
