My friend just got a job and a one bedroom apartment, lounge and kitchen. She asked me to help her as to which room should she furnish first and what next.

I use a lint brush to remove lint from furniture, clothing etc. Of course the lint just gets transferred to the brush. What's the easiest way of removing the collected lint from the brush?

Can anyone tell me wot is better to do first.........paint the walls or tile the floors.....lol that rhymes. Seriously tho, wot is the best thing 2 do.............lay the floor tiles first or paint the walls. This is going of course by the fact that you know the colours you want for both and the styles you want as well.

It's a base oil with scented essential oils added to it. The scent is gone, but the greasy "restaurant kitchen" smell of the base oil remains in the shirts. Ugh!

We have a handyman repairing some broken floor boards in a bedroom in our house. He has just informed us we have woodworm.

Do we need to get this treated? How much will it cost? What will happen if we don't get it treated? How do we find out how wide spread the problem is?

The house is approximately 100 years old.
Any advice appreciated.

What is the name for the thing that you put underneath your plants when you're keeping them inside and you don't want the excess water from watering them to leak onto the carpet?

I'm talking about a piece of hard plastic shaped kinda like a plate that is raised in the middle (where the plant sits) and has gutters around the outside so water that leaks out of the plant drains into there instead of on the carpet.

bonus points if you can show me where i can get one online.

thanks

When we moved into a ground floor flat in the summer there was a minor crack on the kitchen ceiling, but over the past two or three months, it’s got much, much worse. A tiny bit of plaster has now come away.

I think it’s down to one of the upstairs occupants (who moved in at the same time as us) being heavy on his feet.

The damage happening is definitely more than just natural wear.

As I said, there was only a minor crack when we moved in. And judging by the condition of the paintwork, the kitchen hadn’t been decorated for at least two or three years. So there was no cover up by the previous owners.

I intend taking photos to monitor the damage, but what’s my course of action?

Can I expect the owner of the flat upstairs to pay for repairs and improve the floorboards/dampening in his flat?

I am looking for the best brand from a quality point of view and also a guideline on price. I also want to know which brands to avoid. For example I have seen a lot of Samsung fridges but I don't associate them with making fridges so am a bit weary. should I be?

I was given a three year old washing machine and would like to clean it before I use it. I am thinking of doing one "empty" wash with white vinegar, and maybe one with a more aggressive product to kill bacterias and clean the pipe further. Any advice on what to use?

Hi - the radiator in my bedroom has started to make a loud clicking sound when it heats up in the morning, about once every ten seconds. It wakes me up. It's the radiator the furthest away from the boiler. Have tried draining it, but no air came out, just water. It runs on LPG & is about 18 months old. Any thoughts, please?

I have been told it will cost me £70 to get the coat cleaned which is more than I payed for it in the beginning. I want to clean the coat myself but i'm not sure how or with what chemicals? It is cream in colour and the cuffs have become grubby looking.

I have a gopher in my front yard (and, no, that's not a euphemism). He used to stay confined to a corner of a planter, with his one and only gopher hole tucked nearly invisibly behind a bush, and that was fine. Lately, however, he's begun cutting zig-zagging tunnels across my front walk, tearing up the yard and creating big mounds of dirt in the process. My wife is an animal lover (also not a euphemism) and would rather I didn't kill him (she's even named him: "Wally"). In fact, saying "she'd rather" is probably not quite strong enough. I'm guessing the truth is much closer to "she would divorce me if..."

You see my dilemma.

Anyway, I'm not too big on unnecessary killing either, so I'm hoping someone out there knows of a way to encourage a gopher to relocate...
