I am looking for the best brand from a quality point of view and also a guideline on price. I also want to know which brands to avoid. For example I have seen a lot of Samsung fridges but I don't associate them with making fridges so am a bit weary. should I be?

We've had a Samsung for about a year and its excellent in build quality and features, there is a large range of fridge/freezers. I have about 4 friends also with Samsung and they are all pleased.

Wouldn't recommend Samsung but have seen some fabulous LG appliances and the build quality is great. You can get a really good one for around £800.

We've had our 48" KitchenAid for 10 years now and love it.

We considered SubZero because of their reputation. However, we wanted water and ice in the door. When I looked atl the complexity of the ice delivery mechanism inside, it looked like a problem waiting to happen.

Of course, their design may have changed substantially since then.

I used to love GE appliances, but nowadays, if you don't get their absolute top of the line, it is junk. I know this from regrettable experience. They should realize that not everyone is wealthy!
