Um,,, no it doesn't rhyme exactly,,smiles.
After applying thousands of gallons of paint, and installing thousands of sq. ft. of tile, I offer this.
Always work from high to low, especially in your case doing two NEW applications. If you paint first you save time, energy, and a process, by not having to concern so heavily about masking off your new tile floor.

Paint first. Always work from the top, then down. You won't have to worry about messing up the floor. Be sure to paint far enough down the wall, to the floor that the floor being installed is going to cover up your paint ending, (if that makes sense) You don't want to have to touch up the paint close to the floor because you didn't paint far enough down the wall. So get real close to the floor with the paint and no touch up will be needed after the floor goes in. Good luck and have fun.

It kind of depends on your moldings. If you are going to have to put down your floor moldings after you lay the floor, then you will have to paint the moldings after. Sometime people put down a shoe molding afterward and avoid having to put the floor molding in after. I myself would rather put the floor in first because I am a good painter. If you use a good roller ($10 lambskin), then you dont have to worry about paint spatters. Just use some drop cloths. Another reason I paint as a last step, is because walls get banged up when you paint first. I might be kind of picky with detail so it might not matter to you.

I'd paint first. Your more likely to spill or drip paint on the tiles then you are of getting something from tiling the floor on your paint.

Paint first. That way you dont have to worry about dripping paint on your new tile. Besides getting paint out of tile grout is a real pain in the @$$

Paint first then tile. That way you don't get paint on the tile as easily and that way you don't have to wait for the tile to set before you can paint. If you paint first, you don't have to wait for the paint to totally dry before you start tiling.

I would do the walls first. We are remodeling and the walls are one of the first things we are doing. You avoid getting drips on your tiles, and avoid edging. If you are putting up baseboards, you will want to do the paint, then tile, then bastboards.
