My husband thinks it is cheaper to heat the house by turning the heater off during the day, and I say it is cheaper to turn the heater down to 60 and allowing the house to maintain one tempature, rather than bringing it up from a much lower tempature and have the heater run longer. Who is right?

you are correct my dear, remember you need to reheat the furniture as well as everything else in the home.

when the personal items get cold in the drawers, they need heat too to bring them up to speed.

exp: an empty refer or cooler holds a can of coke colder longer; because its alone in the cooler or that it gathers cold from the cases of coke around it.

reverse in the heat dept.

he's wrong; keep the heat at 60-65, what ever you're acustomed to.

if you maintain a temp at 65 at night it will warm up faster in the morning and it won't run a night just come on when needed to keep the temp at 65 . im a care giver for an old lady next door and she will not keep it at 65 when i go into the house it's 58 degrees now the furnace has to go on for a lot longer time because it has to heat every thing in the house but it 's her bill not mine i have double glass it's on add on that is screwed onto the caseing and my electric bill never goes up above 130.00 a month at the coldest but i'm on the oregon coast where it hardley freezes she has single pain and pays 225.00 a month in winter

IF HE WANTS SEX, YOU ARE!

KEEPING A HOUSE WARM VS KEEPING A HOUSE COLD.
DURING THE SUMMER THE A/C HAS TO COOL YOU & EVERTHING THAT HAS RISEN TO 95 DEGREES DURING THE DAY W/ THE A/C OFF. IN A COLD HOUSE IN WINTER, YOU FEEL THE HEAT INSTANTLY & HAVE TO PEEL OFF LAYERS IMMEDIATLY... YOU MAY FIND YOU NEED TO RUN IT ( THE HEAT ) LESS TO ACHIEVE COMFORT! HE'S PROBABLY JUST FINE @ 66 DEGREES, & YOU'RE FREEZING. PUT A COAT ON!

My energy Co sent a flier that recommends you shouldn't have more than a 5 degree difference between settings for energy efficiency.
