I give my dogs water from the kitchen sink which also has a filter. We can not invest in a LARGE filter system at this time. Is it safe to give my dogs this water? What about cooking in it?
Seems as though it has high levels of iron or calcium.

Last year my orange and grapefruit trees produced for the first time. They were beautiful and loaded with fruit.
This year I have only 8 grapefruit in a bunch on this tree, and about 10 oranges on the orange tree and they look very sick.
I dont even think i would want to eat them this year..thats how bad they look...brown, cracked, and yellowish colored. Not the beautiful oranges I had last year.
I live in Florida, and we have had a "dry" season . Could that be the problem. ???
(i dont like to water them with city water because of chlorine and chemicals)

I'm starting fresh w/out any furniture, appliances, utensils, nothing! I've gotta get it all! Besides an obvious bed and couch what are some things you recommend I get first to hold me over...kitchen stuff especially.

I suppose the best way to keep them alive is to have a friend come by and water them, but this isn't always feasible during holidays. Are there any tricks to keep the soil hydrated for a couple of weeks?

I know I need to get my furnace service and my ducts cleaned -- this will be our 3rd winter in our house and it's never been done. What does duct cleaning and furnace servicing involve? Can you give be price ranges? Do they use a big vacuum type thing? Is there any drawbacks to having a furnace serviced? For example I know if you flush the transmission of an older car that hasn't regularly been serviced the cart usually ends up with transmission problems -- has anyone had similar problems with their furnace?

Thanks in advance!

Bought a new red rubber hotwater bottle from Boots the Chemists for my poorly girlfriend. She can't stand the smell of rubber and refuses to use it. I've tried filling it several times but it just stinks. Any ideas?

I have a two stage high efficiency Carrier furnace installed in 2000 that we've been having trouble with every winter. The furnace will intermittently stop running and won't come on unless the front cover to the furnace is pushed or the thermostat is clicked off and then on (the latter doesn't always work though and we have to go push the door anyway). We change the air filters every month, and even had the thermostat (programmable) changed twice, the last time by a service tech. Nothing seems to work. The manufacturer said that since the furnace kicks on when the door is pushed or the thermostat is turned off and then on, its a thermostat problem. The manufacturer of the thermostat (Honeywell) says that the thermostat is working properly and that its the furnace that is the issue. Anyone got any ideas to fix this furnace since these two companies aren't being any help? Thanks in advance!

San Diego will not take care of existing Ficus Trees along some city streets. The City of San Diego has a money problem and Urban Foresting is at the very bottom the priorities which is bad enough, but when asked to prune certain Ficus trees in Hillcrest in 1989, the City of San Diego sad that they won't do it. They recommended that if they wanted the City to take care of them they would have to be cut down (these are over 70 year old trees) and new trees planted. So, the wonder full local Business association, Hillcrest Business Association, raised the money to design and fix the sidewalks to accommodate the Ficus trees roots. I can't tell you how upset it makes me when I see more and more stores and parking lots being built and trees being at the very bottom of our priorities. Ficus trees are beautiful, especially when allowed to grow that big! If you live in San Diego, Do something. Let your city counsel member know that you love Trees!
