I would highly recommend you call a licensed plumber....while handymen are cheaper and know how to do alot of things, a tub valve may be a little tricky.....the company I work for would charge you about 340 to do two valves but you can get a lot cheaper.....it does depend on what type of valve it is and if it is evern repairable......again I strongly suggest that you call a professional because I have gone behind many handymen to repair their mistakes!

The price depends on the brand of faucets. If they are a top name the stems may cost more than normal. I think the average price is around $10 per stem. The labor fee depends on the area you live in. Here where I live the labor rate is half of what they charge in D.C. or New York. They are not hard to do , it isn't rocket science. A screwdriver and a pair of pliers and knowledge of the brand of faucet .

i don't know what a "stem" is but you're going to be charged for labor and parts. labor, depending on the state you live in, can be up to 50$ an hour or more, and they often have "minimums" for coming out to your house. sometimes you can buy the parts yourself and save yourself a bit of money but it might not be worth it, depending on the type of repair they are doing.
