I have a carpet run and under that is the original color. Everywhere else surrounding it is really dark. I want to remove the run but then it looks awful. Is there anything i can do to make it look better.

Dye it or get a new one.

a few things: one try cleaning it with oxyclean carpet cleaner. see if that will work.
another thing you can try is dyeing it a color closer to the rest of the carpet with dyeing colors suggested by carpet sellers. go to a local shop and see what they recommended you do.

it will look like new again just after u`ll have a new one :)). in my country there`s Pronto Carpet for such thing, and it helps a little, i don`t know about products in US, but i`m almost sure that there`s no product to make it as it was when u bought it.

try steam cleaning. go to homedepot and rent one of the steam cleaner. they also will tell you which is the best cleaning agent for your carpet. I have tried it at my house and it gave me good results. I steam cleaned my carpet after 5 years of purchase.

Just buy a new carpet, they are not too costly.
