I originally thought I had a bee hive 50 feet up in my maple tree. I have now discovered it is a wasp nest, about the size of a frisbee and 3 inches in height. It would be almost impossible to get to the nest because it is so high up and not near any major branches. A small log was thrown at it and hit it 3 times, but didn't come out of the tree. Any suggestions for what to do about the nest? No sign of wasp activity now, but if they come back in the spring, I'll be worried about my dogs when they're outside.

I live in a 30 yr old sub-division so there are quite a few large trees and across the street from a RR track that has lots of brush. I'm in central Indiana. With those facts can you help me find the best bird seed to attract a variety of birds? I seem to only get sparrows and an occasional Blue Jay or Cardinal. I have tried the reg. mixed seed and also just black oil sunflower--still only sparrows. I love sparrows but would like to attract some colorful birds.

Last night when we got home, all 3 floors ceilings were filled with smoke. We couldn't find the source of it. We cleared out the smoke by opening windows and turning on fans. Nothing else happened last night.

Well, this evening my son was down in the basement where our reck room is and he brought me a burnt up night light bulb that was not attached to the metal screw in he stated that he heard it pop. I went downstairs to see and sure enough there was smoke marks on the wall behind where the bulb was. The smell was the same as it was last night.

What would cause it to do this and how can I prevent it in the future?
