If you've always had British Gas and never switched then you will be on a very high tariff.

You will be able to save up to 20% by switching to another supplier.

Similarly if you are still buying Electric from your local Electric company and have never switched you will be on a high tariff, and will benefit from switching elsewhere.

have a look at www.moneysavingexpert.com
Martin Lewis is brilliant with this kind of advice.

Also a website like www.uswitch.com will help you find the best suppliers.

I changed from Scottish Power to EDF in the summer and have had no problems at all. I have got through to customer services when I've needed to and I'm paying £50 a month less. All gas companies have their pros and cons but British Gas is one of the more expensive companies. All the experts advise you to switch to a more competitive company and I think you are wise to do so.

Good luck and I hope you have it as easy as I did.

EDF energy have a terrible reputation and I think you may well regret the change. Friends of mine had nothing but problems with billing from EDF but could never get through to customer services. They changed back to BG but not without a fight from EDF energy. They are no cheaper than British GAs either x

i used to work for the EDF change of supply team, they arent so cheap.... u are usually best to get your gas from your local electricity supplier and your electricity form british gas!

it just works out that way.....

British Gas are pretty cheap though.... EDF are not so good... they are a French Company and bought out London Electricity...

They're all rubbish but better the devil you know. I just stick with BG - haven't had any problems with them myself.
