Injuries - December 2006

i jammed my right pinky finger in a basketball 5 days ago and now my finger is still swollen,and it looks like the whole thing is bruised. It hurts when i bend it towards my hand. The knuckle in the middle ofmy pinky is in pain and its crooked. Is it just pain from being jammed or could it be somthin else?

My girlfriend cut herself on her left wrist while cooking about three weeks ago. We went to the emergency and they said there were no arteries severed. She got stitches and have been taken out. She finds that it is hard to bend her wrist, and she is feeling discomfort in the palm of her hand. When she is sitting on the floor, she can't push her self up with her left hand. What kind of exercises, physiotherapy could she do to strengthen her hand/wrist?

ok so i was at work the other day.. and i was standing up and the counter taking peoples orders and all of a sudden i blacked out.. like u know when you stand up to fast and everything goes black for a few seconds.. well thats what it was like.. but it was for like 10 minutes.. and it was really scary.. what could it have been?

A few months ago i hurt my foot around the base of my fifth metatarsal. The bruising went down and it got better.
Now it seems to stick out more at the base than on my other foot. Could I have fractured it? Stress Fracture?

I recently underwent surgery, i am now at home with strick instructions to rest and have to wear support socks to stop my legs from swelling, the thing is my stomach (not area operated on) has swollen twice its normal size, i am a size 8 and none of my clothes fit anymore, can anyone tell me is this normal if you refrain from your normal activities after an operation.

I was doing arobic excersizes with my boyfriend 1 in the morning lol and he accidentally kick the $hit out of my pinky finger! It felt like it "popped" and i think i heard a noise (couldn't really hear over the corny excersize music) Well i just put some ice on it and finished my workout. A couple hours later....It really hurts to move my finger (or the surronding fingers) ouch.....what should i do? will it stop hurting soon? :-(

I'm 26 years old. I was on the second-to-last repetition on my final set of curls (free weights, standing bar curl), and I was struggling. So, like an idiot, I dipped my knees, pulled back my upper body, and tried to swing the bar up to chest level. I've always been such a stickler for gym safety, I don't know what I was thinking.

Anyway, it hurt intensely when it occurred, and though I gave it a couple months to heal, I still get quite a bit of pain on most days. It's about the middle of my lumbar region, though the pain radiates as far as my left hip on bad days.

Yes, I know I should have scheduled an appointment with the doctor a long time ago, but I have to admit, I've been putting off the visit mostly because I don't want to hear what he has to say. Still, I've swallowed my pride and made my appointment. So what can I expect him tell me I've done to myself?

hello...i was just sitting watching tv and all of a suddon i felt as if my face was swelling up..sure enough i looked in the mirror and under my left eye on the lower lid is swollen...it looks as if i was punched in the face...this is the 2nd time this has happened to me..infact it seems to always happen after i clean the litter box...but i constantly wash my hands directly after, before i touch anything on my face...i also am allergic to some fruits..although nothing i knew of in the juice i drank ever caused allergic reactions before..what could this be? do u have any websites that may explain this to me? maybe something with the litter box? because last time it happend directly after litter box cleaning..im just baffled by this..im not guessing it needs to be seen by a doctor so for now im just using a cold ice pack..hope u can help..thanks ever so much yall! im asking this in parenting because moms know best! :)

well i had my nose broken and i havent had any pain. I mean it did swell up and all of that i went to er and the doctor said it must hurt and i told him it doesnt hurt at all. Anyways i didnt want any surgeries or anything and i have a little curved nose which doesnt bother me. So why does everyone keep saying it hurts when you break it since i havent had any pain.

I HAVE JUST CUT MY HAND WIDE OPEN AND I AM BLEEDING REALLY HARD!!! I am alone and can't calm down, what do I do!??!?!?!?!?? I've already had anterior discectomy, fusion, plate, screws. I have 2 more (C6-T1) and looking for new possibilities for somekind of relief. I've seen neurologists (MRIs, EMGs. etc.) and nerve damamge is debilitating.

i was laying on my bed and i noticed on my side that there is a little bump....so i went and asked my dad about it and he said to pop it....ok before you say anything im going to try and describe it.....its like a bug bite...but not sure.....its small and its kinda inflamed....and its got looks black in the middle.....its sore when you push on it but thats about it...its actually hard to explain it...so my dad said to pop it and my friend (shes 75) said to leave it until morning and see what it looks like...that you soo much if you have an idea...im kinda concerned about it...

on the how it should be handled .One thinks he needs surgery to reset the bone. He has a fear of anthesia .The Doctor thinks it will heal but maybe have a claw toe. what do you think.

On Nov.10th, I fell and hurt the top of my foot. It swelled and stayed like that for about a week. After that a bruise appeared(normal). It's been close to a month and there is still a bruise there and it doesn't seem to go away.....?Plz help! Is this serious?
